Coaching focuses on empowering clients with evidence-based tools, strategies, and techniques that improve their emotional wellness. It is goal and action-oriented to make you feel better as soon as possible. While Held & Heard coaches are certified and trained in Perinatal Behavioral Health and consult with licensed mental health professionals, they are not clinical providers and therefore do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. We do not prescribe nor recommend medication, though we can provide referrals to clients looking for this support. In fact, coaching often goes hand-in-hand with other therapeutic or medical interventions. See more information here.
If you have the following conditions or experiences, coaching may not be for you: substance use, eating disorders, certain severe mental health conditions, self-harm behaviors, or active suicidal ideation. If you need help right away, call 911 or the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: 1-833-TLC-MAMA.
-
After we receive your request, we will get back to you right away to confirm a date/time for your consult. We will call you at the time we agree on to discuss a little about what’s going on in your life and how coaching might help you. You can ask any questions you’d like, and then we can schedule your first appointment if we agree coaching could be a good fit for you!
-
During the first session, we talk through the feelings or behaviors that you want to change and set preliminary goals to work toward. Subsequent sessions will introduce tools, strategies, and other coping techniques to address your specific needs and empower you to make changes. We monitor your progress weekly, checking in to see how the tools are working and optimizing them to work for you as we go.
-
The content of your support sessions and all communication (phone, e-mail, text) will remain confidential and will only be shared within the Held & Heard team as necessary to support your care. However, there are specific situations where we may break confidentiality, including:
If you disclose an intention to harm yourself
If you disclose an intention to harm someone else
If you report suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult
If your records are subpoenaed by a court of law
These exceptions are in place to ensure safety and compliance with legal and ethical standards. Whenever possible, Held & Heard will make every effort to discuss these situations with you before taking any action.
-
Held & Heard is located in Guilford, Connecticut, but as coaches we can take clients in any US state. All sessions are virtual, conducted via the Zoom platform.

We understand that life happens (especially to moms!), and that last-minute cancellations and changes may be necessary. We ask that you cancel 24 hours in advance of your appointment to receive a refund, though we will provide a one-time exception per client.

In a 15-minute phone call, we talk through some of what you’re feeling and noticing to assess whether coaching is the right fit for you. If we decide to work together, you can get started right away and schedule your first appointment. If we decide different support is needed, we provide referrals and recommendations to other providers.
